These workshops are being hosted by members of the community involved in and knowledgeable about prescribed fire across geographies, ecosystem types, and neighborhoods. Our aim is to offer a workshop near you to encourage regional connections and sharing about burn unit preparation in your community/ ecosystem type specifically.
Topics covered may include: looking at recent burn units, discussion around tools and resources, brief fire ecology/science, fuel type and moisture considerations, burn unit size and shape planning, overview of permit requirements, construction of hand line, and other themes chosen by the instructors.
Space is limited; however, send an email directly to PFC@areyoufiresafe.com if you are interested in a particular site and are unable to register.
The workshops are free and no fire experience is required. Applications of live fire are not anticipated as the content will be focused on PREPARING burn units.
Attendees are welcome to bring their own hand tools (shovels, rakes, McLeod, hoes, leaf blowers, etc.). Please dress appropriately and bring water and snacks for your own comfort.
